Interactive Kinetic Subway Art:

 

Based on existing artwork and prospective art work, creating pieces that allow users to interact with the history of New York and the artwork.

Why: When members of communities care about their living environments, there tends to be more accountability for others and the public spaces. By increasing accessibility to information, through the arts, the City can engage their yearly 1,654,582,265 subway riders. (statistics source: MTA Ridership)

Push for Pieces in two areas: Contextual and Non-Contextual

-Budget

Technology:

Embedding LEDS and Responsive Sensors inside art works.

-Ability to access the “podcast” through the artwork, by using mobile devices (through radio-wave that can be attached to, through bluetooth.)

-Possible charging stations in conjunction with this “Power Up” points

-Usage of Automata as a device to create “generative” art that is ever-changing throughout subway rides.
